Bringing Dreams to Life: Boston's First Ever Live Graffiti Experience
“Boston is quickly emerging in the international graffiti scene as a city home to some of the world’s most talented graffiti artists, yet we have not established that reputation locally,” said Brand Rockwell, Boston Graffiti Artist. It was time to put Boston graffiti artists on the map where it counts the most: at home. Together, KP Strategies, The South End Open Market, and Ink Block championed the movement, creating Boston’s first ever live graffiti experience, now widely revered as #OFFTHEWALL. The concept was designed to showcase the untapped potential of Boston street artists and bring a diverse group of city dwellers and visitors together over art, music, and food. The energy surged throughout the market, further demonstrating why art is vital to a city’s fabric.
What happened here you only see in a musical or something. But it wasn’t coached or prompted, it was totally spontaneous. These are all random strangers here, proving Boston still has some spontaneous magic moments left in her.

KP Strategies collaborated with New England Open Markets and Ink Block to create a high-energy campaign utilizing Boston’s top media outlets, viral media assets, Snapchat Takeovers, and more. The event was such a huge success that we brought it back for the close of the 2016 market season, this time with a Spooky Twist.
Numbers don’t lie. Thousands came to take in the #OFFTHEWALL experience and were wowed (as shown below in the Event Stats and Video). This was The South End Open Market’s most successful event to date and set the bar high for future art events in the city.
This is not your parents’ white-walled, hush-toned visit to the MFA.
The South End Open Market has been supporting local artists and vendors since it started 13 years ago, but this week it’s branching out to highlight a different medium: graffiti.

This event was not only a fun time for the public to watch the artistic process, but also a statement on the public’s views of graffiti as an art form.
